Steve Gray joins the CTO forum

On March 8th, Steve Gray participated as a panelist of “Defining the DNA of a truly Competitive & Innovative Organisation”, with Geoffrey Moore, Author of Crossing the Cham as the Moderator. Other attending panelists were: Sherrie Littlejohn, SVP Technology & Architecture, Wells Fargo and Mark Settle, Chief Information Officer, BMC Software. The main focus of this panel was to discuss how companies innovate and the organisation required to harvest innovation. The book written by Geoffrey A. Moore titled “Escape Velocity- Free your company’s future from the pull of the past” served as a thesis on the topic and to focus discussion. The panel addressed the fundamental issue of innovation in their respective companies and how to realise new value. Moore’s central premise is that companies have a structural bias for investing in things today that cause it to starve out the new products and services that will generate growth in the next two to three years. One key theme discussed by the panel was the need to focus investments in a balance of new technologies and also in the business competence required to take these new ideas to market. Steve recently presented at an event organised by the Telecom Council at CSR Sunnyvale, US. The Conference focused on location-based retail and Steve carried out an excellent presentation focusing on Indoor Location Technology. You can access the presentation on CSR YouTube.
