Think Positive in CSR Haifa

“Think Positive”, is a tutoring program which matches volunteers to improve math scholastics of junior high school students. Weekly “one to one” lessons take place at the CSR Haifa office. The program is led and driven by the “Haifa Coalition for Social Responsibility” partnered with CSR Haifa, Intel, IBM, Phillips, Taro and the regional Ministry of Haifa. “Think Positive” has shown proven success in improving students math grades by as much as 8%.

Last week the school students and volunteers celebrated the end of the program at a karting event which was great fun and where they had the opportunity to show their appreciation.

We thank all CSR Haifa volunteers who took part in this special volunteering effort and wish all the best to the students and hope to see them as interns in CSR Haifa in the future.

CSR Audio Platform Brings High-Fidelity aptX® Sound to BRAVEN™ 650 Speaker

Utah-based Braven has deployed CSR’s aptX® audio codec in its new Braven 650 portable wireless high-definition speaker. The same Bluetooth wireless speaker/speakerphone also employs CSR’s BlueCore5™ Multimedia platform, a programmable, multi-featured audio Bluetooth solution designed to facilitate the integration of wireless multimedia functionality into embedded systems.

The high-end offering among Braven’s SIX Series of portable HD speakers announced last month, the Braven 650 features aptX technology in order to deliver stereo audio quality over Bluetooth wireless connectivity that is virtually indistinguishable from high-fidelity CD sound. Housed in sleek aircraft-grade aluminum, the Bauhaus inspired Braven 650 doubles as a speakerphone, mobile phone charger, and offers up to 20 hours of playtime.

Although standard Bluetooth technology offers the ability to stream stereo audio wirelessly from audio devices to headphones and speakers, this bandwidth-constrained solution does not come close to the audio quality consumers have come to expect from their electronic entertainment systems. CSR aptX audio coding technology solves this problem, breaking the bandwidth barrier to deliver CD-quality stereo audio wirelessly over Bluetooth connections for a variety of consumer electronics applications. As a result, aptX is becoming a preferred choice for premium quality Bluetooth audio, having been deployed in a fast growing list of products by companies including Samsung®, Nokia®, HTC®, Motorola®, Creative®, Sennheiser® and many more.

CSR Denmark’s running man completes the Copenhagen Marathon (with a small sit down)

CSR’s Lasse Bigum ran the Copenhagen Marathon for the benefit of World Wildlife Fund. We found this a good cause and were delighted to match fund him.

When he got his breath back, Lasse gave us this report:

“More than 11.000 people had joined Copenhagen Marathon 2012, and they were about to be treated to an unusually hot day. My goal was to finish in less than four hours, and I ran the first 21 km in 1:43, so I was in good time, initially. Shortly after fatigue and the heat set in. After a brief sit (don’t do that!) I managed to trot along and finish in 3:56.35. The heat was definitely unexpected but the race and the settings were great. The crowd was enthusiastic and cheered you on. I highly recommend joining in 2013.”

Congratulations Lasse!

Eureka experiences! CSR Denmark encourages children to get into science

CSR Denmark is really excited to support a technical exhibition run by Aalborg university that is aiming to inspire young people to choose a career in technology and science. This year the theme is ‘All that we can not see, but yet is there!’

The exhibition consists of different activities and experiments in science and engineering involving our senses and body with hands-on demonstrations provide eureka moments for children! CSR Denmark’s contribution is a demo wafer containing around 8000 Bluetooth chips. Working with us, Aalborg University have provided additional chips along with a microscope to really get up close to them. Together we have a really inspiring stand!

Throughout the summer students from the university will present at the exhibition and later this summer our social club plan a family event at the exhibition.

CSR goes to the Zoo ‘Make a Difference Day, Walking in the Sunshine.’

Having a mental disability can make it really hard to interact with the community around you. Either staying at home or being treated in the hospital can mean that many people don’t get the opportunity to make friends or enjoy the freedom that most of us take for granted.

The brilliant HandsOn Shanghai recently organised ‘Make A Difference Day, Walking in the Sunshine,’ which CSR were delighted to be a part of. The event saw CSR volunteers paired up with people with mental difficulties and then enjoying a great day out at the Shanghai Zoo and the Shanghai Century Park. 32 wonderful CSR colleagues offered up their time and between them volunteered 144 hours to bring a little more sunshine into the people’s lives.

CSR Israel on the run from the Mountain to the Valley

A number of CSR Israel’s highly motivated athletes put on their running shoes and, proudly wearing the company logo, recently took part in a 20 hour, 215 km group relay race.

Represented by two teams of eight, each runner ran a distance on average of almost 27kms. The countryside trail took them through the beautiful vistas of the Hula Valley, along the Jordan River, next to the Sea of Galilee and reached the finish line at a farming community in the area of Timrat.
