Having a mental disability can make it really hard to interact with the community around you. Either staying at home or being treated in the hospital can mean that many people don’t get the opportunity to make friends or enjoy the freedom that most of us take for granted.
The brilliant HandsOn Shanghai recently organised ‘Make A Difference Day, Walking in the Sunshine,’ which CSR were delighted to be a part of. The event saw CSR volunteers paired up with people with mental difficulties and then enjoying a great day out at the Shanghai Zoo and the Shanghai Century Park. 32 wonderful CSR colleagues offered up their time and between them volunteered 144 hours to bring a little more sunshine into the people’s lives.
Everyone had lots of fun looking at the different animals and plants and some really good drawings were done!
Shaofeng Wang, one of the CSR volunteers pointed out that, “Increasingly corporations and employees are looking to get involved in the communities where they live and work. I am pleased that CSR launched the Social Responsibility Programme and that we have a platform to do something to give back to the community.”
Thanks to everyone involved!
