BlueVox2: a headset with amazing quality, and a $5 BOM*
BlueVox2 is CSR's latest mono headset design. It delivers major gains in every area: price and size reduction, power consumption, audio quality enhancement, and ease of use for consumers.
Based on a single-chip ROM IC with integral CODEC (BlueCore6-Audio ROM*), the electronic bill of materials is reduced with this design to a new low of just $5 using a simple 4-layer PCB. Despite this major cost reduction, CSR has added major new features including:
- 30% lower power consumption allowing talk-times of 12hrs
- Superior RF performance with +8dBm transmit power and -90 dBm receive sensitivity for longer range and reliable audio link
- Compatibility with latest Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR (which includes 'secure simple pairing')
- Integrated echo and noise reduction (no licence fee)
- Connection of multiple devices
- CSR's AuriStream CODEC for enhanced audio or lower power consumption
BlueVox2 provides headset vendors with the opportunity to refresh their entry-level product ranges, with designs providing greatly improved headset performance and audio quality - at less cost. The links provide more details.
* BlueCore6-Audio ROM is available in 4.5 x 5.5 mm BGA (world’s smallest headset IC), or 7 x 7 mm QFN package. The $5 eBOM is based on the QFN version.
