Marketing Manager (Consumer)

Job Purpose

Define and manage the home consumer products road map throughout the product life cycle across the APAC region, ensuring maximum CSR penetration of the market in a timely manner.

The role-holder will define future products and drive development of current ones in R&D, as well as direct the development of collateral to support the design in of these products at tier one customers from applications and other teams in CSR.

The role will primarily focus on the Korean and Japanese markets and will involve regular travelling in the region to meet customers and evangelise the roadmap as appropriate. There will also be some travel worldwide.

The successful individual will be highly entrepreneurial, a self-starter with significant relevant industry knowledge having directly managed successful semiconductor products into tier one consumer OEMs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive design-in of all CSR products into consumer applications. Grow consumer revenue whilst maintaining target margins
    • Ensure these products are delivered in a timely manner by engaging and obtaining buy in from other teams inside and outside CSR
  • Product Strategy and Definition
    • Understand and interpret market requirements through product marketing, strategic partners and customers
    • Integrate competitive, business and resource considerations to develop product plans / roadmaps  that lead in the market place. These should cover all factors, including silicon, software, example designs and compelling demonstration and applications
    • Prioritise feature and product requests while considering development impacts
    • Gain buy in from engineering, product marketing, sales and management
    • Evangelise the consumer product roadmap internally and externally. Ensure common understanding and agreement of priorities for the consumer market
    • Understand and interpret real-world deployment and troubleshooting requirements
  • Marketing Communications
    • Define product announcement plans and drive through to execution
    • Ensure products are seen at all appropriate major shows. Be the CSR spokesperson for the market
    • Ensure all product collateral is ready in a timely manner, including product briefs, datasheets, reference designs, demonstration platforms, application notes, press articles, web pages etc
    • Generate external and internal presentation and training materials
  • Competition
    • Maintain competition database, generate analysis of competition and fight guide presentation material, inform CSR stakeholders and publish internally
  • Pricing
    • Maintain product price and gross margin projections in conjunction with relevant groups in CSR
  • Communication Skills
    • Clearly articulate product roadmaps and plans to senior management and strategic accounts
    • Ability to understand highly technical features and functionality and communicate in a compelling fashion to less technical business and financial decision makers
  • Manage without Authority
    • Drive engineering (R&D and BU), sales, FAE and AE resources
    • Convince and excite resources about product vision and market requirements goals.

Person Spec

Required

  • Minimum five years marketing experience, including product management of high-volume semiconductor products
  • A proven track record of developing and growing markets and engaging with tier one consumer OEMs, through the complete product lifecycle
  • Extensive knowledge of wireless technologies, consumer markets and customers
  • Ability to motivate and drive teams to deliver across organisations
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in cross functional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including presentation, interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Able to be self-directed and independent, and lead cross-functional and cross-organisational projects
  • Excellent leadership, organisation, communication and decision making skills, judgement and technical knowledge are essential.
