CSR's Casira™ development system (two Casira modules or 'end points' are provided for evaluating and testing Bluetooth® and BlueCore™ performance) provides an evaluation tool for ROM-based BlueCore designs. The purchase of Casira grants access to the complete resources of the CSRsupport.com developer's site, including free BlueCore reference designs, design guidelines and application notes, and testing gudielines for manufacture. The reference designs offer a choice of using a matched balun and filter component from either Soshin or TDK.

Once evaluation is complete, users simply specify the ROM build and 'persistent store' settings they require (which configure various IC parameters such as the PCM port), and the chip is fabricated. HCI- or RFCOMM-level builds of the Bluetooth stack are available as standard offerings; custom ROM builds are optionally available.

For the host-side Bluetooth stack and application software, CSR offers BlueCore Host Software or BCHS.

Development of BlueCore2-Phongle / BlueCore2-Gateway
These ready-to-apply solutions for retrofitting Bluetooth to mobile phones are based on either the ROM-equipped BlueCore2-Audio or BlueCore3-ROM devices, for which CSR provides ready-written application code. Users gain free access to this code plus an example hardware design and documentation by subscribing to the 'Gateway Pioneer' section of www.csrsupport.com (requires CSR permission), and purchasing an evaluation kit that emulates the design using a BlueCore device with Flash memory.
