Casira™ is CSR's evaluation and development tool for BlueCore™ applications that are not covered by the wide range of example designs or ready-programmed BlueCore devices. The purchase of Casira grants users access to the BlueCore design support and resources available on www.csrsupport.com - such as reference designs.
Casira consists of a BlueCore radio module with its fully Bluetooth® qualified protocol stack plugged onto a motherboard. The motherboard contains host I/O and man-machine interface elements including RS232 and USB drivers and external connector, audio CODEC, external audio socket for a headset, plus internal connectors for PIO lines, audio PCM stream and synchronous serial interfaces. This is packaged in a plastic case featuring a removable lid for easy access to the hardware for embedded system development.
Casira systems are shipped in pairs, including two RS232 cables, two headsets and two power supplies. There is also a CD-ROM with documentation, and BlueSuite software for host-side (HCI- or RFCOMM-interfaced) applications which includes:
- Drivers to communicate with BlueCore at HCI or RFCOMM levels, supplied as source-code (supporting H2/USB, H4/UART, or CSR's BCSP protocol)
- BlueChat - a simple GUI-based chat program supporting the establishment of data and voice links, and transfer of files and text via an HCI interface
- BlueTest - which puts BlueCore into test modes for radio development and qualification
- Flash ROM loading tools, and a Wizard for upgrading firmware via UART or USB
BlueCore PC is CSR's software solution for adding Bluetooth wireless technology to Windows operating system platforms enables PC OEMs and accessory manufacturers to quickly and easily add Bluetooth wireless technology to desktop and notebook PCs. A copy of this software is now included in the Casira. A wide range of tools for other Bluetooth host side software stacks is commercially available.
