CSR is combining its software-based GPS solution with software-based cellular location technology and RF IC know-how to deliver a new-generation solution for 2G/3G handsets, which will also provide fast location fixes indoors. CSR's Enhanced GPS (EGPS) solution offers:
- A target cost of <$1 (when combined with CSR's Bluetooth solution)
- Up to 80% reduction in footprint (only a radio front end is required)
- Up to 80% reduction in power consumption (fine time and frequency aiding delivers faster acquisition)
- Low MIPS/RAM usage (via fast acquisition and patented technique)
- Better performance than conventional hardware solutions (accurate position fixes indoors and in dense urban environments - initial position available in <1 second)
- Easy integration (it will be made available using CSR's proven BCHS porting method)
- Flexible upgrade path (including Galileo support)
