Improving the quality of wireless voice calls is a major focus for handset developers and carriers. Its importance as a product and service differentiator is only likely to increase substantially with the evolution of mobile applications.

MusiCore1 provides handset developers with a major opportunity to dramatically enhance the quality of voice calls, by providing advanced echo and noise cancellation. Capable of providing up to 32 dB of background noise reduction (with a dual-microphone algorithm), it allows users to make calls easily in the noisiest real-world environments such as train stations and cafes. MusiCore1 additionally optimises the sound received by the user, by means of tools such as automatic volume control. The algorithms supplied are customisable.

Another aspect of the enhanced voice quality available from MusiCore1 is its support for AuriStream, CSR's optional Bluetooth CODEC. If the phone is used with a Bluetooth headset, and the headset device also supports AuriStream - and CSR is the leading supplier of headset silicon - then the wireless link can provide wideband quality (without increasing power consumption compared with standard Bluetooth).
