At the Telematics Detroit 2012 conference and exhibition, CSR plc (LSE: CSR; NASDAQ: CSRE) is strengthening its leadership in the automotive industry with exciting product introductions and demonstrations of the latest CSR navigation and wireless connectivity platforms. CSR will highlight its commitment to the automotive market by introducing its first SiRFstarV™ device at the show – a quad-GNSS part offering significant location performance and other improvements – along with its most powerful and feature-rich auto-qualified standalone Wi-Fi® solution and a new RoadTunes™ ADK for developing safer in-vehicle hands-free control of smartphones.
CSR will also be showcasing the most complete product portfolio of location, audio and connectivity products for the automotive industry. Among the demonstrations scheduled for the Telematics Detroit show are exciting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth® and Bluetooth SMART wireless connectivity solutions, the latest location with SiRFstarV and rich audio-visual capabilities of the SiRFprimaII™ solutions in the CSR booth (Stand 44).
“Telematics Detroit is the ideal event for demonstrating our leadership in developing cutting edge navigation, and wireless connectivity technologies and solutions specifically geared to meet the demanding needs of the automotive industry,” said Charlie Lesko, General Manager of the Automotive Business Group at CSR. “Nothing could demonstrate our commitment to this market more than to have our very first SiRFstarV implementation optimised for the auto market and debut at this show, but this is just the latest addition to our growing portfolio of automotive products.”
Latest in Location and Automotive Navigation
Supporting GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Compass systems, the new SiRFstarV device being introduced and demonstrated at the show has new features that allow it to break through the ambient electrical noise and radio interference commonly found in automotive environments to enable Tier One suppliers and OEMs to achieve continuous, highly accurate positioning and navigation capabilities for their next generation of in-dash navigation and telematics applications.
CSR will also be demonstrating many of its other automotive solutions, including a demonstration featuring the SiRFprimaII automotive infotainment platform running RealVNC connectivity software to present a mirror image of a smartphone display on a larger in-dash screen and provide safer control of the smartphone features.
Taking Wi-Fi Connectivity to the Next Level
CSR will demonstrate the capabilities of its CSR6030A11™ Wi-Fi chip to support multiple, concurrent AP/STA/WFD operations, which is designed enable exciting new in-vehicle applications by allowing simultaneous Wi-Fi client, Wi-Fi access point and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity among mobile devices and in-dash systems. New optimizations in the CSR6030A11 firmware and Synergy™ Wi-Fi host software deliver a 15 percent boost in Wi-Fi performance over earlier designs.
Connecting Smartphones to In-Car Infotainment
CSR will also demonstrate how its latest RoadTunes ADK can be used to provide tighter integration of smartphones into in-vehicle systems. Using the RoadTunes ADK, developers can create applications that can automatically detect, access and control virtually any smartphone and enable drivers to manage smartphone features using their vehicles in-dash touchscreen system or steering wheel switches. The RoadTunes ADK also includes a new version of CSR's leading echo and noise suppression solution, CVC™ v4.5.1, which adds support for wideband speech.
Bringing high-fidelity, wireless audio to the car, CSR will show how its aptX® technology delivers superior audio performance when streaming music from smartphones to in-dash music systems via CSR Bluetooth connectivity: for example, the recently launched HTC Car StereoClip incorporates aptX in the new CSR8670™ audio platform. CSR µEnergy® for Auto Bluetooth SMART solutions for connecting human interface devices and biometric sensors to in-dash systems will also be demonstrated.
