Release LibraryCambridge, UK - 30th May, 2001 – CSR today announced that its BlueCore™01 single-chip Bluetooth solution has been incorporated into Innovi’s first generation Bluetooth® wireless headset and dongle. Innovi’s headset ‘Blue007’, a low power class 2 headset, offers mobile phone users freedom of movement and crystal clear sound quality up to a distance of 10 metres from the phone. Both the headset and the dongle are undergoing qualification for version 1.0b of the Bluetooth standard, and will be upgraded to version 1.1 before the product launch in September 2001. Innovi will present a working prototype of the dongle, which is compatible with the Ericsson headset, at the Bluetooth Congress in Monaco in June. The complete set, comprising of both the headset and the dongle, will be introduced at the CommunicAsia show in Singapore on June 19th, 2001. The headset will be available to buy from specialist electrical retailers in Europe and Asia in September 2001.
"We selected CSR’s BlueCore single-chip solution because it is able to run application layer software on-chip in a stand alone mode. We were therefore able to eliminate the need for a separate host processor in the headset." commented Guillaume Ponticelli, Business Development Manager of Innovi. He added, "This was critical to the overall design, as size and weight will be important features for the end-user when selecting a Bluetooth headset."
The low power headset emits over one thousand times less radiation than a typical mobile phone. It features a three hour talk time and a three day stand by time, an LED to indicate functionality and charging and sound signals to indicate incoming calls, pairing and low battery. The design, technology and convenience of the headset will appeal to wide range of consumers. The dongle can be purchased separately and is compatible with any other qualified Bluetooth headset on the market.
