Release LibraryCambridge, UK — August 19, 2002 - CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) has announced that Uniwill Computer Corporation, a Taiwanese designer and manufacturer of portable computer and information appliances, is launching a Class 1 Bluetooth module using CSR’s BlueCoreTM. Unwill's module, BTM2022-1-Y, is available now.
Uniwill's module offers a small footprint (25.6mmx14x2.5mm) made possible by using CSR's BlueCore2 chip which requires no external LNA. With a regulated supply voltage of 3.3V, +/- 0.1V, and an output power of 20dBm, the Class 1 Bluetooth design will permit an operating range of 100metres. The module is compliant with version 1.1 of the Bluetooth specification and output interfaces are included for USB, UART and PCM.
Uniwill has selected CSR to power a range of its Bluetooth dongles and modules. The company's Class 2 Bluetooth dongle B091H1 took both the Best New Technology and Best Hardware awards at the RetailVision Spring 2002 award ceremony in the US. Uniwill’s Class 2 Bluetooth modules (BTM2021-2-Y) were BQB (Bluetooth Qualification Body) certified in April.
Paul Yu, Deputy Program Manager, Uniwill, commented commented, "We are confident that CSR’s position as leader in Bluetooth chips equates the best silicon at prices necessary to meet our needs". Yu added, "BlueCore offers a feature rich, low cost and small design which means Uniwill customers will get the best module designs at the lowest prices".
