Release LibraryCambridge, UK – November 3, 2004 – CSR (LSE: CSR.L) has announced that the company has outgrown its current Cambridge Science Park site and has moved its UK headquarters to the much larger Churchill House, on the neighbouring Cambridge Business Park. At 53,000 square feet, Churchill House is twice the size of CSR's existing facilities, a move that is testament to the success of the company in the Bluetooth market.
Earlier this year with staff numbering around 200, CSR announced its plans to expand its workforce, especially in its design team – a team that has given the company its competitive edge. As of today, CSR employs 300 people, 200 of whom are based in Cambridge. The company is still recruiting and expects to number 314 by the end of 2004. CSR also currently has offices in Denmark, USA, Japan, Taiwan and Korea.
CSR established itself in the Cambridge Science Park in 1999 after founders
Phil O'Donovan, Glenn Collinson and James Collier split from Cambridge
Consultants to set up CSR. Since that time, the company has occupied ever-increasing
space on the Science Park culminating in the move to this new larger property
on the Cambridge Business Park. Churchill House is a property that will accommodate
CSR's growing headcount and will also serve the company's need
for improved facilities. CSR's expansion is a result of its dominance
in the Bluetooth silicon market in which the company's BlueCore product
holds a market share in excess of 60 percent, in terms of designs.
In addition to raw space, Churchill House enables increased RF design laboratory resource and enhanced customer testing and training facilities as well as extending meeting rooms, visitor space and staff leisure facilities.
Phil O'Donovan, co-founder and commercial director, CSR commented, "Our sustained and unprecedented growth especially over the past 6 to 12 months, has made this move essential. We have simply outgrown our Science Park offices". O'Donovan added, "The move to Churchill House will give us the space we need to expand all of our development and marketing teams to facilitate the expansion of our Bluetooth development, as well as development of other non-Bluetooth technologies."
