Release LibraryCambridge, UK - 6 March, 2002 - CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) today announced the availability of a Bluetooth software solution that allows designers to embed Bluetooth into a range of devices not running on Windows based operating systems, such as mobile phones or PDAs. This means that CSR now offers its customers a fully engineered hardware and software solution for embedded applications that is pre-qualified to version 1.1 of the Bluetooth standard.
BCHS is the first software to run the Bluetooth stack (L2CAP, RFCOMM and SDP) on the BlueCore2 hardware leaving only the Bluetooth profiles to run on the host system. This reduces the requirements for host processing power and memory. Currently the following profiles are supported: Audio Gateway (AG) profile, Dial up networking (DUN) profile and Object Push (OPP) profile. More profiles are already under development.
"This is a complete solution including everything from the antenna through CSR's single-chip silicon to sample end-user applications," said Michael Bak, CSR's Managing Director of the Danish office which developed this software. "The developer can rapidly enable embedded devices with Bluetooth capability, incurring minimum design risk, ensuring fastest time to market. We are also able to offer a design consultancy service to aid the swift integration".
Customers can order the complete bundle directly from CSR with a single CSR part number and get BlueCore silicon and Bluetooth Stack, host side profiles and a set of sample applications in a single, easy to use package. The new product bundle consists of CSR’s BlueCore2 single-chip, hardware reference designs and sample applications.
