Cambridge, UK – 4 June 2010 – CSR (LSE: CSR) today announced that Sennheiser has selected its wireless audio platform incorporating Bluetooth wireless connectivity and CVC 5.0 noise reduction technology for its new EZX60 mono headset. CSR’s wireless audio platform has enabled Sennheiser to develop a small and stylish headset that significantly enhances the consumer experience with industry-leading noise and echo cancellation, providing improved audio clarity for conversations even in noisy environments.
“Sennheiser has a reputation for providing its customers with excellent audio quality. We needed a product that would not only provide a reliable and high quality wireless audio connection, but also market-leading noise and echo cancellation at low power,” said Guido Karbautzki, Head of Sales and Marketing, Sennheiser Communications. “CSR’s audio platform does this job perfectly and allows our customers to better enjoy their conversations.”
CSR’s audio platform, BlueCore6140, is a flexible solution offering wireless connectivity and a range of audio enhancements available through its proprietary Kalimba DSP. CSR’s CVC 5.0 provides superb audio quality, even in noisy and harsh acoustic environments through a collection of advanced algorithms for speech on the transmit and receive signal paths. This is enabled by advanced audio features including packet loss and bit error concealment that restore audio quality in difficult RF environments. In addition, the platform now supports a very low-power Wind Noise Reduction (WNR) algorithm which requires less than 0.2mA to operate and consumes no power when no wind is detected.
“Sennheiser has long been one of the biggest names in the industry for high quality headsets. Its customers expect its headsets to be the best,” said Anthony Murray, Senior Vice President of CSR’s Audio and Consumer Business Unit. “CVC 5.0 is an industry class leading noise cancellation technology and it will allow users of the EZX60 headset to hear and be heard clearly. At the same time the small form factor and power-efficiency of our audio platform have enabled Sennheiser to design an appealing, light, small and stylish device.”
Sennheiser’s EZX60 headset weighs just 12 grams and has a battery life of up to 300 hours in standby mode or 7.5 hours talk time over the Bluetooth v2.1+EDR connection. It also supports the latest user friendly features offered through CSR’s audio platform: Proximity Pairing, WNR and a hands-free connection to up to two mobile phones through Advanced Multipoint. Proximity Pairing technology is designed to simplify the pairing process by enabling the headset to find the nearest discoverable Bluetooth source device; fully compliant with the Bluetooth specification, the headset initiates the pairing activity and the user simply has to accept the incoming pairing invitation on the source device.
