SiRFstarIII™ GSC3e/LPx & GSC3f/LPx

For PNDs and Telematics

SiRFstarIII GSC3e/LPx & GSC3e/LPx | CSR

Description

SiRFstarIII GSC3e/LPx and GSC3f/LPx are the pin-for-pin compatible, lowest power versions of the advanced GSC3e(f)/LP receiver in a single package. The baseband has been ported to 65 nm technology, enabling an additional power reduction of up to 30 percent. In GSC3e/LPx, the baseband and RF are integrated into the 7 mm x 10 mm x 1.4 mm package. In GSC3f/LPx, flash memory is included in the package making for an extremely compact design. GSC3e(f)/LPx includes a powerful GPS DSP integrated with an ARM7TDMI microprocessor and 1 Mb of SRAM. GSC3e(f)/LPx architecture uses an FFT and Matched Filter that delivers performance equivalent to more than 200,000 correlators. This represents a quantum leap forward in GPS performance.

Key features

  • Next generation, low power GPS performance
  • SiRFLocTM client A-GPS support
  • GSW3—modular software support

Benefits

  • Supporting multiple reference frequencies, GSC3e(f)/LPx RF section is a highly integrated RF implementation
  • The GSC3e/LPx’s flash option, the GSC3f/LPx, has an integrated 4-megabit flash memory, eliminating the need for an external flash component and significantly simplifying the routing associated with integrating a GPS receiver into a board design
  • GSC3e(f)/LPx is supported by standard autonomous software that supports SiRFInstantFix technology, which eliminates the initial task of obtaining broadcast GPS data from the satellites themselves, resulting in a faster Time To First Fix (TTFF), even in weak signal environments
  • GSC3e(f)/LPx supports SiRFLoc Client, the patented Multimode A-GPS software powering mobile phones optimised for location-enabled-services. SiRFLoc improves GPS location capability in wireless system environments by utilising various modes of wireless infrastructure assistance to improve weak signal reception. Additionally, the GSC3e(f)/LPx supports SiRFDRive dead reckoning technology for enhanced positioning accuracy and availability
